About

Surya is an English-speaking partner for professionals. He’s also a visual designer who occasionally writes, creates physical home objects, and produces a podcast for accounting students.
He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universitas Gadjah Mada, a master’s degree from University of Liverpool, as well as a total of six years of formal working experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Antam in Jakarta.
His profession as an English-speaking partner began three years ago, born out of necessity. He needed to make a living by utilizing the skills he had. This was due to his decision to relocate to his hometown in Yogyakarta to accompany his elderly parents. His love for engaging in meaningful talks, his encounters with new people while traveling, along with his curiosity about different professions, industries, and domains of knowledge have strongly supported this journey.
Surya had a hobby of designing posters and album covers as a teenager. Now, that hobby has returned, making a comeback with more practicality and potential for profit. His attention to detail, combined with his writing skills elevates his creative work to a more professional level.
Surya also chose to live in non-conventional housing. With the help of others, he designed and built a micro home from a 20-foot shipping container — his greatest creative achievement to date. The idea was fueled by his frustration with the complexity of building a conventional house in Yogyakarta, while the design inspiration came from directly observing different living and working spaces during his time in England.
Surya turned the story of his house into his first published article in 2021. Since then, he has occasionally written about a wide range of topics and interests. His past work experience, along with writing academic essays during his master’s study has significantly enriched his writing skills.
Lastly, the podcast was launched three years ago, driven by a desire to give back to society and, of course, to reconnect with old friends and engage in more quality discussions with them.
